Johnson & Johnson's SILK (Smooth Incision Lenticule Keratomileusis) is a next-generation lenticule extraction vision correction procedure that utilizes the state-of-the-art femtosecond laser system, 'ELITA'. An evolution of the existing SMILE procedure, it delivers precise laser spots at the 1µm level and utilizes a low energy of 40nJ, the lowest currently available. This minimizes thermal and nerve damage to the corneal tissue and creates a smooth, bi-convex lenticule design, which reduces post-operative dry eye and glare, while providing superior visual quality and a rapid return to daily activities.
Treatment information is for reference only and may vary depending on individual conditions. For accurate details, please consult with the facility.
Recommended for
- For those who want to stop wearing glasses or contact lenses
- For those who want a shorter recovery period without a corneal flap.
- For those who prioritize stability against external impact due to frequent exercise and outdoor activities.
- For those who are concerned about the pain and long recovery period of LASEK.
Procedure Benefits
- There is no corneal flap: Since no flap is created, there are no issues with the flap shifting or folding due to external impact.
- Small incision: A small incision of 2-4mm reduces damage to corneal nerves, resulting in a relatively lower burden of postoperative dry eye.
- Short recovery period: You can wash your face and resume daily activities from the day after surgery, and you may schedule your return flight after the follow-up checkup the next day.
- Over 20 types of precision tests: After checking corneal thickness, corneal topography, intraocular pressure, pupil size, etc., we determine whether surgery is possible and the amount of correction required.
Risks and Notes
Postoperative dry eye, nighttime glare (halos), and temporary vision fluctuations may occur, most of which subside over 3 to 6 months. Depending on the correction amount, overcorrection or undercorrection may occur, in which case reoperation may be considered. Surgery may be difficult if you have insufficient corneal thickness, suspected keratoconus, severe dry eye syndrome, autoimmune diseases, or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Please do not rub your eyes for one month after surgery, and avoid saunas and swimming. Eye makeup is permitted after 2 weeks, and please use the prescribed eye drops according to the specified schedule.
