About the Hospital

Hello. This is Gangbuk Yonsei Hospital. Since our establishment in 2009 by joint and spine specialists from Yonsei University Severance Hospital, we have grown into the only specialized joint hospital in Nowon-gu, Seoul. We are a strong, specialized hospital that has consistently strived since our opening to provide high-level medical services, overcoming the limitations of hospital scale within the Seoul medical system, which is heavily centered in the Gangnam area. We were designated as a specialized joint hospital by the Ministry of Health and Welfare in January 2022, and following our 3rd cycle medical institution accreditation in March 2020, we achieved further growth by obtaining 4th cycle medical institution accreditation in March 2024. Our medical staff consists of 12 specialists in total, including 9 Orthopedics specialists segmented into spine, knee, shoulder, and foot departments, as well as specialists in internal medicine, anesthesiology and pain medicine, and radiology. We are at the forefront of joint and spine treatment, including customized artificial joints, stem cell cartilage regeneration, frozen shoulder, lumbar disc herniation, cervical disc herniation, spinal stenosis, and hallux valgus. We were the first in Korea to introduce artificial joint surgery using biosensors and hold the record for the highest number of such surgeries. We have also actively researched and developed leading medical technologies, including biportal endoscopic spine surgery and minimally invasive correction for hallux valgus. Furthermore, in applying advanced medical technologies, we adhere to the principle of safe surgery based on thorough infection prevention measures through our systems. Air entering all operating rooms is filtered through HEPA filters in the ceiling, and we control the airflow from top to bottom to prevent mixing with floor air, while also maintaining positive pressure to prevent external air from entering the operating rooms. We strictly manage the use of sterile disposable surgical gowns (space suits) and the separation of movement paths for contaminated and sterilized items. Meanwhile, we were the first in Nowon-gu, Seoul, to introduce the Nursing and Care Integrated Service, which eliminates the need for private caregivers. We have expanded our clinical departments to include internal medicine, a health check-up center, and Chiropractic therapy, and are equipped with the latest facilities, including additional staff and MRI machines. We have also established a social work team, typically found only in university-level hospitals, to carry out practical support projects for low-income patients in medical blind spots. Based on our continuous research, we will continue to grow into a world-class hospital.
