New SmartSight (ATOS) is a flapless vision correction procedure performed using the ATOS femtosecond laser from the German company SCHWIND. Unlike traditional LASIK, which involves creating a large corneal incision to form a flap, this procedure uses a micro-incision of approximately 2–3 mm to remove a corrective tissue (lenticule) created within the cornea to correct myopia and astigmatism. It is characterized by minimal corneal nerve damage and rapid recovery, as it does not involve excimer laser ablation (a method of cutting away tissue) and does not significantly disturb the corneal surface. Precise targeting is achieved through pupil recognition eye-tracking and cyclotorsion compensation (a function that corrects for micro-rotations of the eye).
Treatment information is for reference only and may vary depending on individual conditions. For accurate details, please consult with the facility.
Recommended for
- Those who want stable vision correction without a corneal flap - Those who frequently engage in activities with a risk of external impact, such as sports or martial arts - Those who prefer a method with minimal nerve damage due to concerns about dry eye syndrome - Those who want to correct both myopia and astigmatism - Those who meet the necessary conditions, such as corneal thickness, based on examination results
Procedure Benefits
- No flap: No corneal flap is created, eliminating the risk of flap damage from external impact. - Micro-incision (approx. 2-3mm): Minimizes corneal nerve damage, reducing the burden of dry eye syndrome. - No ablation: Precisely separates and extracts tissue without using an excimer laser to ablate it. - Precision targeting: Improves astigmatism correction accuracy with pupil recognition eye-tracking and cyclotorsion compensation. - Rapid recovery: Minimal surface disruption allows for a quick return to daily activities.
Risks and Notes
- Temporary postoperative symptoms such as dry eye, halos, glare, decreased night vision, and visual fluctuations may occur, which typically improve over time. - Depending on individual corneal condition and the amount of correction, overcorrection/undercorrection or reoperation (additional correction) may be required. - Rarely, complications such as infection, inflammation, or subconjunctival hemorrhage may occur. - Surgery may be restricted if corneal thickness is insufficient, or if there are signs of progressive myopia or suspected keratoconus (corneal ectasia). - Prior consultation is required if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, have an autoimmune disease, or suffer from severe dry eye syndrome. - Surgical outcomes and recovery periods vary by individual, and suitability will be determined after a comprehensive examination.
